Inzicht in Lion's Mane
Delen
Lion's Mane is one of the easier mushrooms to recognise. It grows as a white, rounded mass covered in long, hanging spines, usually on damaged or dying hardwood. It occurs naturally across Europe, Asia, and North America.
Here is where it grows, what it looks like, what it has been called, and how the mushroom ends up in a bottle.
🍄 Wat het eigenlijk is
Lion's Mane is a mushroom that grows across North America, Europe, and Asia. It prefers hardwood trees such as oak, beech, maple, walnut, birch, and chestnut. In the wild, it appears on dead, dying, or damaged wood, where it breaks down the timber.
In Europe, fruiting bodies usually appear in autumn, roughly from August through November. Commercial cultivation makes it possible to grow Lion's Mane outside its natural season.
The fruiting body forms a white, ball-shaped mass with long spines hanging down from its surface. As it ages, the colour changes from white towards yellowish-brown. There is little else that looks quite like it.
The mushroom has several names. In China it is called Houtougu, meaning "monkey head mushroom". In Japan, it is known as Yamabushitake. It has been eaten as food in East Asia for centuries and has a long history as a culinary and cultural mushroom.
🌳 Werkt het?
Lion's Mane has become a subject of scientific research because of the compounds found in the mushroom. Among these are hericenones and erinacines, along with beta-glucans. Researchers study these compounds in laboratory, animal, and human research.
Human research is still developing. The number of studies is limited, and findings from research cannot be turned into a guaranteed outcome for someone taking the mushroom.
That distinction matters. Research can tell us what scientists are investigating. It does not tell us what every person will experience from taking an extract.
For Valdspore, the useful part is knowing the mushroom itself and understanding what goes into the bottle.
🌿 Voor wie het eigenlijk bedoeld is
Lion's Mane can be a natural fit for people who spend long stretches reading, writing, studying, creating, or working at a desk. It suits people who like a simple daily routine and prefer to keep the things they take uncomplicated.
It is also for people who care about where a mushroom comes from and what part of it actually goes into the bottle. Valdspore uses the fruiting body rather than grain-grown mycelium, with a 15:1 dual extraction.
Three full droppers, or 3 mL, is the daily amount. One 100 ml bottle contains approximately 33 days of use.
Lion's Mane begins on hardwood, usually appearing as a fruiting body in autumn. Valdspore uses that same part of the mushroom in a 15:1 dual extract.
The result is a liquid extract in a 100 ml bottle. Three full droppers make up the daily amount.
A mushroom from hardwood, reduced to what goes in the bottle.
